Delete a case and its files go with it
Five stages
What you do, in order
- 1
Choose the filing
Start a case and pick what you are preparing.
Prepared Docs seeds the case with a checklist for that filing, split into what is required and what is supporting. Immigration is where the product started, and the practice area is something you choose, so a case is filed under the right heading from the beginning.
- A checklist per filing rather than an empty folder
- Required and supporting items separated
- Notes on items that are commonly misunderstood
- 2
Collect the documents
Add each document against the item it answers.
Photograph a passport page with your phone, drop in a PDF, or upload a scan. Files go straight to storage from your browser, so a large scan is not slowed down by passing through us first. Each upload attaches to the checklist item it belongs to, which is what makes the rest of the process possible.
- PDF, photos and Word documents, up to 25 MB each
- Upload from a phone as easily as a desktop
- Every file is tied to the item it satisfies
- 3
Confirm what is right
A file being present is not the same as it being correct.
Uploading marks an item as having something attached. It does not mark it done. Someone has to look at the document and confirm it is the right one, and only then does the item count toward readiness. That extra step is deliberate: a score that climbs the moment you attach anything would tell you a case is ready when it is not.
- Review each document before it counts
- Send an item back if the wrong file was attached
- Approve or reject documents as you go
- 4
Close the gaps
The readiness score is the answer to one question.
How much of what this filing requires do you actually have, confirmed. The outstanding list separates the two kinds of work left: items with nothing attached, where you need to go find a document, and items with something attached that nobody has checked yet.
- One number for the whole case
- Outstanding items always listed plainly
- Filter across cases to see which is behind
- 5
Assemble the package
Turn a finished case into something you can submit.
Generate an evidence binder that puts your documents in a deliberate order with section headings, instead of handing a reviewer an unordered pile of attachments. Print it, or keep it as a single file alongside the case.
- Documents ordered into sections you control
- One file instead of many attachments
- Kept with the case for your records
Honestly
Where the line is
Being clear about this matters more than sounding capable. Prepared Docs is a document tool.
What Prepared Docs does
- Gives you the document checklist for the filing you chose
- Keeps every document attached to the item it answers
- Tells you what is still missing and what still needs checking
- Holds the official blank forms so you can open them in place
- Assembles your documents into an ordered binder
What it does not do
- It does not give legal advice or tell you whether you qualify
- It does not submit anything to any agency on your behalf
- It does not decide the exact evidence your specific situation needs
- It does not replace a licensed professional where you need one
- It does not guarantee an outcome
Details
The details that come up
- The form library
- Search official blank forms by number or by name and open one without leaving your case. The edition shown is read out of the file we are holding, so it reflects what you would actually be filling in. Fees, filing addresses and eligibility always come from the agency, and we link you there rather than repeating details that change.
- Working with other people
- A case can belong to you alone or to a shared account. Preparers running cases for clients get one place to see which client is behind, without every case being visible to everyone.
- It works on a phone
- Most documents get collected away from a desk. Every page is built to be used on a phone, because photographing a document and uploading it in the same moment is how this actually happens.
- Leaving
- Deleting a case deletes its checklist, its documents and the stored files behind them, not just the entry in a list. Your documents remain yours throughout.
